I took the lessons I learned in the gym and tried to teach and instill them as characteristics in myself and my children.
In the gym you only get what you work for. And hard work always pays off. In the gym you have to overcome your mind over the current circumstances. In the gym if you stop you go backward. In the gym you must be relentless, a hard worker, always driven, and accept yourself for who you are in that moment but know that you can be more. In the gym failure is accepted, learned from, and worked for to overcome. I can’t think of a better blueprint on life than applying those lessons.
The day finally came and it was time to step on the bodybuilding stage. I looked out at all the friends and family who had traveled so far and encouraged me during the two and a half years it took to get from day one to now. I saw my children beaming Smiles up at me. I saw my husband’s face with pride in his eyes. It was in that moment that I stood there feeling the most comfortable in my own skin than I had ever felt in my life. It was in that moment that I realized I had nothing to prove anymore but had so so much to give. I needed to give. I Wanted to give. I wanted every single woman out there to find the joy of being so secure in her beautiful strong self that she could wake up with a smile everyday and go after the out of reach. I wanted to simplify this crazy diet world we live in and proclaim the basics. I wanted to share the research of women lifting heavy and being able to in a sense customize their body with hard work. I wanted those that follow me to know that it is attainable in each and every one of us.
My reason changed from a need to be the best me for my kids, to the blessing of needing to be the best me for those searching for the best Them. I found a purpose so much bigger than myself.
